Jose Spencer

Though originally from Brooklyn, New York, the Boston area has been Jose Spencer's adopted home for the past ten years. He is an abstract artist inspired by the great abstract expressionist of New York.
Jose's attempt to share his artistic journey is made without the need for unnecessary words. From the smaller canvases to his larger scale works, Jose goes in the opposite direction of what one thinks, thereby opening up the painting to the intimacy, beauty and truth of his art. He explores space, color, and form on a scale that is measured in emotion. Much of his work is process-oriented, pushing back on most viewer's impulse to continually search for the bigger picture, causing an introspective reaction.
