Josh Wells' work's purpose is to contribute to research into the physical manifestation of intense psychological states, exploring different states of the mind through the use of psychic automatism. His Research based practice has the born motive of filling the blurred line between reality and delusion, the practice also conforms with the ground-breaking research into communication patterns and its correlation into psychology.
Josh Wells is an expressionist artist that bases his practice around the absence of control. Dictated by his unconscious, Josh uses this behaviour to evoke materials that promote his creative process. Josh's practice emulates a confrontation to the psyche, creating these vulnerable, absurd, raw depictions of the human form. This communicates how the physical manifestation of intense psychological states can be signalled through visible concepts. His work takes this confronting approach to this breaking down of consciousness and the human mind by addressing it in such a raw, interrogating approach.
