Jo Davis

My love of art began in childhood studying ballet in New York where I grew up. My family relocated to Houston Texas where I received a BBA and JD from the University of Houston. Following a move to the Chicago area, I began a successful career in financial services, ultimately serving as the general counsel for a major insurance holding company. While in Chicago, I studied watercolor painting as a means of relaxation, became a member of the Cook County Water Colorist Society and participated in local art shows. After retirement and a move to Florida, I studied acrylic art with a locally acclaimed artist. My artwork focuses on abstracts and landscapes inspired by natural scenery captured in photographs taken during my international travels. I use dry brush on canvas with vibrant colors to create feelings of calm and tranquility. I also use liquid acrylic pouring techniques which allows me to manipulate the flow and movement of the painting resulting in unique, original abstracts on canvas.
