Jean-Pol D Franqueuil

Born in Paris, I grew up in different parts of the world before moving to the United States which greatly inspired my paintings since. After a successful carrier in political cartooning, I switched to painting as I no longer wanted to be controlled by other people's news but intended to create my own line of events instead. In my works, I try to demonstrate the blending into anonymity of ideas and objects that should otherwise remain in the forefront of our concerns. Like the repeating designs in my paintings that wrap and soften symbols of stark subjects of our global culture, the fabric that envelops our day to day life shrouds our actions, creating a convenient loss of real dialogue and a buffer against the uncomfortable attentions we would otherwise encounter consistently.
