Kara Hendershot

"Exploring the quiet, solitary, and widely misunderstood side of humanity, my current work focuses on estrangement. Though specific in content when I create it, it is important for me to allow the viewer to have their own dialogue with my work. My artistic process allows for fragments of my paintings to be left abstract and unspoken to spark a continuous dynamic, lending the viewer a feeling of possibility."

Kara Hendershot was born in Toronto, Canada in 1980. She moved to the United States just before high school, and later attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, graduating with a degree in studio art in 2002. Upon graduating, Kara spent a year with AmeriCorps, volunteering in schools in South Carolina.
Currently she is very active in the Twin Cities art community in Minnesota with the production and exhibition of her work throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul, and with the promotion and support of other local artists and organizations.
