Viktar Karaleu

Viktar Karaleu is a contemporary Belarusian artist. He works in easel painting, and he is best known as a master of the lyrical landscape. The artist's visual language is simple and calm. The artist's translucent chiaroscuro transitions and his pale color palette that features bright touches of silver allow him to fill his works with the melody of life itself and with a striking degree of sensitivity. This technique allows him to create thoughtful and slightly sad images of nature. After he realized that he preferred plein air painting to working in the studio, the artist moved out of town and found a place for himself, where he has been able to devote himself to many years of continuous work. Viktar Karaleu's works include several dozen paintings that are dedicated to the same theme, which is unveiled and described over a progression of canvases that depict completely different seasons and times of the day. In fact, this series represents a monograph on the fleeting fluctuations of natural phenomena. Spring floods, autumnal paths, and the striking frozen surface of a thin stream all manifest the artist's originality that he has worked to achieve over the course of his entire artistic career.
