Landia Davies is a contemporary South African sculptress. Her sculptures are about the power of vulnerability. They are invitations to cherish naivety and value playfulness in the midst of complexity and adversity.
Her current body of work is about celebrating our raw human emotions and forging our individual identities with disregard (even defiance) for tidy labels and categories.
Landia wants the viewer to ask "What is it?" and hopefully find that defining the form is not as important as feeling its state of being. Gender and genus don't really matter.
Currently, Landia works near Swellendam in the Western Cape.
