My young life growing up in Northern Oregon was spent running through open fields and creating forts in the surrounding dense forests. I grew up loving stories, using my imagination and creating “things.” As life progressed my inspiration for the imaginary wilds never ceased and as I began to create images on paper I knew I was destined to share my thoughts and imagery with others. This destiny lead me to move to southern California to pursue my artistic studies. I graduated with Honors of Distinction from the Art Center College of Design with a BFA in Illustration. I chose the illustration major because I knew I wanted formal education in creating realist art and I wanted to expand my ability in visual story telling by studying under the great professors Art Center had on campus.
Twenty years later my quest for adventure and the search for the “unseen” in life is still very much alive within me. My tools of expression have changed from school supplies, mud and spare lumber to oil paint and canvas. Every painting has unique qualities that are direct results of my craftsmanship which includes pushing my supplies to create surface texture, scratching back into this surface and following with mixing and remixing paint so the layer...
