Laura Aranda was born in Mexico City on January 13th, 1986. She coursed architecture studies at UNAM from 2005 to 2010. Afterwrds, she took a seminary on Art History at Centro Vlady. She has participated at several painting and drawing workshops mainly focused on the human body, imparted by José Barbosa and Lorena Mata, among others.
She has participated in the colective exhibition “Alas Raices” at the Centro de Cultura Jesús reyes Heroles and opened her first solo exhibition on 2017 at “Astoria” in Mexico City. She was selected to participate in the Latin American Art Festival in San Diego, California in 2017 and is currently working on her next group exhibit in Xochimilco, CDMX, where she intends to de-centralize art in mexico City while rescuing ancient artistic values and techniques.
Her current line of work explores different states of mind of the artist as a reaction reality experienced on the everyday life, through the use of inherent elements of the portrait and surrealist landscapes. This series pretends to discover the relationship between dreams, experience and its interpretation.
