I am an artist and illustrator currently living and working in Tucson, AZ. I am available for commercial and freelance work; please contact me with any inquiries.
I have always been intrigued by man's connection with other living creatures. My work as an artist and illustrator focuses on depicting wildlife with humanity, delving into the inner souls and vitality of animals and lifting these qualities to the surface of the canvas. I seek to explore and confront our own conceptions of ugliness, history, and morbidity, and the ways we project these parts of ourselves onto the minds and bodies of our fellow beasts.
I have a BA in French and Francophone Studies from Earlham College. In 2010 I earned a certificate in Natural Science Illustration from the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. That same year I worked for the Cornell Lab of Ornithology in Ithaca, NY, as a Bartels Science Illustration Intern.
In June of 2011, I participated in the School of Visual Art's summer residency program in Illustration and Visual Storytelling in New York, NY. I am currently an Assistant Illustration Editor for Juxtapoz Magazine online.
