Laura Mitsu (she/her) is an Oakland-based abstract artist whose work explores the emotional layers of being human through color, movement, and intuitive mark-making. A former sous-chef, she left a decade-long culinary career feeling burnt out and depleted, seeking a more nourishing life. Working from her studio, she creates original paintings on canvas and paper guided by curiosity, experimentation, and intuition.
Her work has been featured in print, exhibited across the San Francisco Bay Area, and is held in private collections nationally and internationally. In 2025, she was invited to exhibit at San Francisco City Hall and Superfine Art Fair with ArtSpan. In 2024, she debuted her first solo exhibition, Poetic Abstraction, in San Francisco.
