Lea Cammack

I am an abstract artist living in West Cornwall, England
My inspiration comes from my journeys; real, virtual and imaginary.

My interest in art began when I was 9 years old. That year I first visited Cornwall, got to know the Art Gallery in Birmingham and for Christmas got a book on contemporary art.

I studied photography at Gloucester College of Art and after that my life took me in a multitude of directions. I kept my love of art visiting and getting involved with galleries and running Art Week in Dorset. I've written and designed books, worked for theatre companies, run a multi arts festival in St Ives, Cornwall, taught creative writing and worked with young adults.

Not until three years ago did I really start painting. I explored different techniques, varied surfaces and the liquidity of paint. Last year I bought some old brushes from a wonderfully weird shop, Steckfensters, in Penzance and my work started changing.

All my canvases have some kind of texture. I find this often influences the shapes in my paintings and enhances the strong colours
