Leo Maciel

I am originally from Brazil but have been living and working in London for nearly 20 years.

I have no formal training in painting and learnt it by 'trial and error' and by my lifetimes involvement within the arts in general and, also, by my own studies and personal observations on other past and present artists' work shown in art galleries, museums, books, etc.

As an inquisitive person, my subjects are varied and diversified. They seem to be prompted by my own perceptions/observations of the world, by my own personal development and varied interests as a person, and by whatever takes my fancy through my thoughts, emotions and feelings.

I see art as a tool for free expression of the self and soul and believe it to be what makes us, human beings, alive and inclusive, irregardless of the conventions and norms which are, normally, imposed upon us.
