About Zara Saganic

I am a Dorset based artist, designer and educator. I have developed an interest in insects in order to combat my fears. I have learnt to love what I once feared and through my work seek to promote the fragile creatures and their importance to the survival of our world.
My work starts with hand drawn insects that I then scan and digitally manipulate in order to create vibrant designs for Giclee prints and textiles. I also create designs for paper cutting and I spend hours painstakingly cutting by hand in an attempt to achieve 'The Prefect Cut'. This is a Sisyphean pursuit, but it is this impossibility that inspires and motivates me. I also create surface designs from my insects and am exploring sustainable fabrics and methods of production. This again seems to be an impossible task and has created new problems for me to solve.
