Lynnford Jones

Lynnford Jones was born in to the little mining village of Crynant near the town of Neath, South wales and was raised in the secluded valley of the river Dulais. To counter the harsh realities of working in the pit and the iron collier men, he was to be seen sketching in and around the village. After early retirement he followed the path to artistic awareness, abandoning figurative painting for the world of Abstract Expressionism.

He was taught art in one of the local schools whose teacher had a profound influence on him. He worked as an engineering draughtsman then got a BSc and lectured for twenty years whilst still keeping alive his dream of being a painter.
