Manali Jagtap was born in 1978 and brought up in Kolhapur, India. An award winning graphic designer and fine artist she lives and works in India and the UK. During her studies at the renowned Sir J.J. Institute of Applied Arts (1995 - 2000) in Mumbai, she was awarded the Communication Art Guild (CAG) Award for Best Typography. She got her MA in Art and Politics (2009 - 2010) from Goldsmiths University, London.
Manali's multimedia artwork started in 2002, when she collaborated with scientist Sarah Angliss, a sonic artist, engineer and performer to create a 70-minute projection, commissioned by the Think Tank Millennium Trust (United Kingdom) to celebrate innovation in science and technology during the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. In 2003, she was part of the East Wing Collection 06 at the Courtauld Institute of Art, Somerset House (London) with a piece that was praised as "˜a microcosmic representation of the Collection itself'. She also worked alongside renowned British book artist Tony Hayward on his book Comedy of Errors in 2006. In 2010 one of her paintings was chosen for 'The Lotus Show' hosted by Women Art Foundation and exhibited at the Prince of Wales Museum, Mumbai.
