Marcelo Guimarães Lima (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, 1952)PhD, MFA, is a painter, printmaker and writer. Living in Paris in the early 1980s, he studied printmaking with Jacques Callot in the Louvre. In the Prado in Madrid he was a pupil of Goya and Velazquez.
He has taught drawing, painting, printmaking, the history and the theory of art, and the history of photography in Brazil, in the United States, the Middle East and in Spain. He has illustrated books, worked with animators, painted murals, directed community-based art projects in the US, in Brazil and in Spain. His work has been exhibited in the US, Europe, UAE and Brazil. Has works in private collections in Europe, Brazil, the UAE and the US, as well as in public collections such as the Museu de Arte Contemporanea da USP (São Paulo), Rutgers Center for Innovative Printmaking (New Brunswick, NJ, USA), Cabinet des Estampes BNF (Paris).
His latest book was published by METASENTA in Melbourne: "Heterochronia and Vanishing Viewpopints" by Marcelo Guimarães Lima, Metasenta Publications, Melbourne 2012.
