Xavier Masero

Xavier Masero’s gaze on the world is not common. Rather than look at things, his eyes stop to learn how they are made, or as Masero would say, “I love the skin on the fish more than the fish”. He chooses his forms from nature, his processes from thought. That is why Masero’s work is almost structural, mechanical, tenacious in its repetition
of the game that the world sets before him; his stroke is a struggle between organic matter and gesture, moving between the geometry that modulates the world and the chaos that sets it free, and exploring beyond the whole, the sum of the parts, scraps where spontaneous nature becomes art.
