Mauri Valentine

Mauri Valentine is an 18 year old artist from Mexico City, Mexico and now living in the midwestern United States. Growing up around the influences of Spanish artists and writers, his passion of the arts is something that he wears proudly on his sleeve. As a first generation immigrant in a small town, he turned his hardships and alienation into a drive to stand out with his talents. In December of 2018, he wrote, illustrated and published his poetry book “Tongue Tied Cherry-Stems”. His works are meant to present themselves like memories or are unique portraits of musicians and artists. His more abstracts are much like a series of frames to tie together the collage of images that are familiar and feel oddly personal but are unspecific, much like a memory.
