Alvaro Mendoza

I was born in Colombia, Santa Marta (Caribbean Sea) and living in Europe since 2000. I have been based in Barcelona, London, Amsterdam, Bonn. Currently I'm living on Formentera Island.

My work comes from my particular reality, feelings, perception. It arises from the observation and the chromaticity that exists in it. My experiences are joined to the action of painting.
Intrinsic aspects of my life are manifested in the brush stroke in painterly mass rebelling to be formed by the established conventions of traditional painting. Emotional substance then flows onto canvas. Multiple range of ocher, the corrosion of time in terms of context to make it part of the work, juniper green, blue sky and sea, red passion, the mystic magenta, as if the experiences leave in my memory the way discover the spontaneity of adventure into unknown paths.

2005-2006. Studies for master of multimedia engineering.
1983-2015. Painter and self-taught photographer.
