The work that I am currently working on concerns coastal erosion of the land around Britain. The exploration is that of the changing weather and seasons caused by Global warming around the world. My intention is to photograph the impact this is having on our country and to raise public awareness.
Starting my work in the Norfolk villages of Happisburgh and Hunstanton, on the north east coast of England I investigated and photographed the geological structure of the coastline and looked for remaining remnants of the homes that had fallen into the sea on the beaches below.
The Images from the project called disappearing coastline reveal the precarious composition of the cliffs in Happisburgh. The effect of erosion to the land does not show the damage to property or the grief and suffering of the people who lost their homes. But these images from Happisburgh are part of the coastline that is the fastest eroding land in Britain where homes have just fallen onto the beach below caused by the constant pounding of the waves. To continue with this project I will visit the East Riding coast line between Spurn Point and Flamborough Head building a substantial body of work towards an exhibition.
