Marwan Shakarchi was born in the United Kingdom in 1984 after his parents emigrated from Baghdad in the 1980’s. In 2008 he created the iconic cloud which later became the symbol for the art movement known as Myneandyours.
Following working alongside artist, activist and founder of Obey Giant, Shepard Fairey, Marwan relocated to Dubai, UAE where he was able to contribute to the growth of culture.
The Myneandyours project evolved into an experiment in symbology, helping the viewer develop an understanding of how a symbol, in this case a cloud, can affect their perceptions of the environment.
Marwan’s practice has been affiliated with a broad range of clientele, working with public murals, digital illustration, visual communication, and fine art. He has developed projects with government entities, private developers, private art collectors and internationally recognised brands.
