Newland Valérie

I am Valerie Newland and i was born in 1975 from New-Caledonia.
I am working and living in Paris.

Self-taught at the age of 15.
1996 - I started with a degree in Plastic Arts at Paris VIII, Saint Denis, then a Deug in art history at Paris I, the Sorbonne Paris.

The theoretical bases allowed me to understand how artists and
plastic movements interacted with each other, succeeded each other, denied each other, to give meaning or not to what brings us together: art.

2001 - In the second part of my apprenticeship, I entered the Beaux Arts de la City of Paris at Glacière, Paris XIII. I start with the drawing with for master workshop Jean Zuber. In these classes, we learn the proportion, the tension of the
muscles and the originality that each model wants to give us. Soon the body is no more than a pretext for understanding what the line is. This trait by which my personality will take shape.
The following school year, my master in painting is Gonzalo Belmonte. The discovery there is total, choose frames, the canvas, learn to stretch, to smooth, but also the
composition, colors, material. These years have been prolific, plastically and humanly, because after two years, I was a workshop assistant.
At the end of my course, I was rewarded with congratulations from the jury, made up of Pat Andrea and Jean Michel Alberola.
