Nuria Formenti

Born in Asturias (Spain) in 1971, Nuria Formenti´s life has been, from an early age, a constant journey through different places in the world.

Her parents moved to Cartagena de Indias (Colombia) when she was a child and she grows up living between this city and different countries such as The USA, Panama, The UK, Switzerland and Spain.

Surrounded by people from the arts; painters, poets, musicians, "la niña" starts to see the world through her masters´ eyes. That is when her journey in the art commences.

Through her life´s constant travels she learnt that home is where her family settles. This is the reason why Cartagena de Indias left such a profound impact on her. It was in this city that she meets her mentor, Alejandro Obregón, who spotted her unique talent and her gift for painting.

She studies art in the United Kingdom, but Latin America is always present, its colour palettes influenced by those found in her beloved Caribbean.

Eventually, she returns to Europe with her family and initially settles in the Canary islands, these added an African flavour to her work. Finally, she comes back to her hometown with cases full of experiences and stories to be told.
