Velvet Shadows

Manfred Lehner is a fine art photographer working between Helsinki and Vienna. His photographs focus on the human figure as a site of presence, vulnerability, and quiet tension. Using natural light and monochrome tonality, he reduces narrative detail and allows gesture, texture, and shadow to carry meaning. The work moves between portrait, nude, and staged intimacy, aiming for images that feel both immediate and timeless.

Lehner’s images have appeared in international publications including Vogue España, Vogue México, Harper’s Bazaar, National Geographic, and others. Alongside commissioned work as an art director, his personal series explore the sensual and psychological qualities of looking, often blurring the boundary between observation and participation.

His photographs are held in private collections and presented through Saatchi Art online.
