I have always conceived my work as a research process where different concepts are put into dialogue in unexpected ways.
My current project, Gravitational Time, explores the paradoxes that occur when time passes at different rates, relating the tempos of the production systems with the subjective rhythms we have internalized as automatisms. In this sense, the project is inspired by the physical theory of gravitational time dilation: the closer the clock is to the source of gravitation, the slower time passes.
This idea suggests to me an analogy with the extraction of minerals from quarries. Observing how this productive system works, I take certain actions and movements that are applied in drilling the landscape, and then transform these operations into pictorial actions. The constant repetition of these actions results in slight variations between each other, allowing me to generate internal paradoxes.
For me, landscape no longer carries a lyric semantic load motivated by the relation between nature and human action over time, but it becomes rather a place of sociopolitical conflict.
