Peter Clarke

I am a veteran artist who born in 1937 in Camberwell London who has at last has dragged himself into the 21st century and is now using the web to display my work.I am a figurative artist who is eclectic in my approach to subject matter,in the past I have worked in both abstract and contemporary forms. Now I let the subject dictate the method.The work is not complete until the viewer makes a connection.

During the fifties I attended The Camberwell School of Arts,recieving a traditional grounding in art education.I worked in the graphic and printing industries for a few years before returning to fine art, taking any employment that would give me time for painting. During the eighties I took part in group shows at the Sutton College of Liberal Arts, and exhibited in the corporate environment. I exhibited and sold at the Southbank Skylark Gallery,The Candid Gallery Islington,The River Gallery Barnes, and the Contemporary Art Gallery Richmond. I was also represented at the Chelsea Arts Fair, and the Battersea Affordable Arts Fair. I had two successfull one man shows at the Quaker Gallery St Martins Lane. For the best part of the last fifteen years I have been running a gallery and studio in the South of France. During this time I was fortunate to win the Grand Prix International de Valmy for painting. I am now based in the U.K.in the coastal town of Hastings. ,
