Born in Oregon, but raised mostly in California, I have lived in Trumbull since late 1987 (well, except for a three-year sojourn spent mainly in Pennsylvania, where I rediscovered a taste for the blues). When not working on my collages, I tend to what I like to call my “accidental” moss garden, read (a lot), write occasional poetry. I try to keep involved in community theatre, and get out at least once in a while for live music and dancing. My path to art was rather circuitous: Several years back I bought a book on handmade envelopes — and, after a while, rather than merely cutting out portions of pictures to make an envelope, started playing around, combining multiple images into small collages that could be turned into envelopes. From there it was a short, you could almost say inevitable, step toward full scale collages of varying size and complexity. I work mostly with pictures taken from magazines, brochures — anything with an image that resonates with me. I enjoy playing around with perspective, and there is usually at least one impossibility, perhaps a figure at once in front of and behind another. I do work thematically; there is usually a sense of narrative, of story.
