The son of a military officer, JM Birdie was born in Santa Ana California and spent much of his youth living in Japan and the Philippines, living with native Negrito Indians. His creative nature led him to the East Coast of the US to study theater at Circle in the Square, NYC, music and classical ballet in Philadelphia, PA.  He lived in London, England where he began cultivating a unique style of painting and illustrating, a culmination of all of his artistic endeavors, experiences, and travels. His psychologically whimsical work has been featured in the New York Times. JM Birdie's workspaces have ranged from a solar powered moving trike studio, the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and currently the Sonoran Desert.
