Since studying at the Rietveld Academie I have done a variety of things as a designer. From creating designs for wallpaper and curtain material to printing T-shirts and making print work. Then I started work as a video editor and the design work disappeared into the background, but not for long. The urge to design remained very definitely present. For several years I have been drawing and painting on paper and canvas and my focus is on making mixed media collages. For my mixed media work I use old newspapers, I make monotype prints, and I make multiple prints of photos on the canvas. The painting is completed with a monotype print and acrylic paint on canvas. My work is characterised by a loose, free style with powerful areas in vibrant, strong colours with earthy tints. Movement is very important in all my work. The result is never fixed. It comes into existence while I am working and it is a real adventure. I gain my inspiration everywhere, from everything that catches my eye. In the last six months I have extended my mixed media work and I am making collages. Photos found from magazines and books are re-worked onto old LP record covers or made into a collage on canvas. Besides this I am focusing on making stop motion and drawing, sketch animations. The stop motion animations form a link with the LP covers and are brought to life in collage form on the cover. Drawings are sketched on paper with pen and ink to form a basis, and then they are processed on the computer to create a short animation.
