ARTIST'S NOTES The creative process behind the “Organic Wreaths” series involves experimentation with techniques to imitate and amplify nature. I create forms and textures that have a natural aesthetic and quality, reminiscent of organic cells, celestial structures, basic life forms or fossils. Due to the nature of materials and techniques used, the process of making is fluid and alive. The resulting forms and textures are partially chance and partially calculation; the outcome of both ceding control over the process and being acutely aware of the development of forms and textures. Just like in nature, every resulting element is unique and cannot be repeated. To complete the compositions, I use a combination of collage, cutouts and shadows. While echoing shapes of the ink elements, the cutouts and shadows represent their stark contrast, highlighting fragility of our nature and the disparity between having and loosing. The artwork elicits a sense or wonder, transfigured into a moment of a much-needed reflection. Organic Wreath #2 is inspired by a Lady's-slipper Orchid, the rarest species in the UK, with just one wild site in the country. The Lady's-slipper orchid is a striking plant that can take up to ten years before flowering and when it does, it produces just a single flower... DETAILS Size: 80cm x 60cm | 32'' x 24'' (as framed) Materials: alcohol based ink, 200gsm 100% tree free & recycled synthetic paper, Golden UVLS protective varnish with satin finish. Signature: signed with initials in the bottom right corner and with a full artist's name at the back. Framing: supplied float mounted in a wooden box frame with white smooth finish and ready to hang.
