About The Artwork

From the series "Ships of the Gilded Age" by Brian Palm. The history of this iconic vessel is shrouded in mystery and controversy, even to this day. It was without doubt one of the most devastating disasters at sea of all time, and all the more tragic in that the giant ship was deliberately sunk. Some scholars would argue that is was intentionally allowed to be sunk...the debate continues. What is undisputed is that the sinking caused the Americans to enter the First World War with decisive results.
