This stimulating artwork celebrates the beauty of male nude in a spectacular, sophisticated way. Inspired by classical painting and surrealism, this collage embraces theatrical posing, sexy exhibitionism and emotional sensuality in an all-male framework. This collage oscillates between the homoerotic gaze and the young adult's gazing back at the viewer, interrupting his consuming voraciousness, while the other male model's face is substituted by voracious alligator's face. The tribal exoticism in this collage, though, is presented in an ironic, postcolonial perspective that parodies the prevalent Orientalism in Western society. In a carnivalesque way, this collage mixes racial identifications, humanness and animality, culturally worked-out male physique and wild, unruly desires, out of the straight and narrow. This artwork has been created by Dr. Gilad Padva, one of the prominent contemporary scholars in cinema studies, popular culture, men's studies and queer theory.
