Art Description

Collage: Acrylic, Marker, Monotype, Pencil, Plastic on Plastic, Paper, Other.

This is my MA Project in witch I discuss about the destruction of the image and identity of the comic book superhero Batman. The concept of the project is based on the notion that Batman is the closest comic book character that can be set up in our world, the real world. I take his identity and crack it, fragment it, cover it and make it translucent, making it susceptible to forgetfulness, wiping out the meaning of superhero. I used a large spectrum of techniques, starting from image transfers to acrylic paint. I used scenes from comic strips and tore them or mixed them up in such a way that they lost their initial meaning. This project is composed of 6 work, all of them composed on a plastic sheet and each displaying different arrangement of elements and colors and techniques.
