Steve’s work primary focus is on the human experience, the body positive, sexuality and gender identification, relationships and nonhuman connections. Steve engages with traditional print making techniques like screen printing and intaglio printing, painting on canvas and paper, digital manipulation and contemporary printing technologies. In addition to his art practice, Steve is a published author, curator and heritage specialist with over 20 years experience in the arts and cultural sector. The most important thing about Steve’s work is his unflinching interrogation of the human body as a site of identity, gender, sexuality, body positivity and our relationships with the nonhuman environment and our past. Steve’s practice is informed by printmakers such as Nathalie LL and Andy Warhol, gender bending performance artists such as David Bowie and Lou Reed, the colourful and engaging stories of Greyson Perry’s tapestries and the surreal photography of Cindy Sherman. Steve was educated at East Sydney Technical College, The University of Sydney, University of the Arts London and UNSW: Art & Design. He currently lives in Elizabeth Bay NSW.
