ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The visual impact of a female wearer donning a mixed reality headset on her environment is a subject of intrigue. Particularly, when the wearer has very short or no hair, it alters her visual perception and influences the observer's experience. By minimizing the visible components of her head, the focus shifts towards the forefront of the mixed reality experience - the headset itself. This reduction in visible features accentuates the prominence of the technology, emphasizing its role as a transformative tool for immersive interactions. Additionally, the parallels between wearing a mixed reality headset and a mask become apparent. Both serve as barriers, obscuring facial expressions and concealing identity to some extent. This convergence elicits a sense of mystery, fostering curiosity and prompting contemplation on the wearer's intentions and the potential digital realm she is engaged with. Ultimately, the visual impact of a female wearer of a mixed reality headset, particularly one with minimized visible components, elicits a captivating blend of technological fascination, anonymity, and immersive potential within her environment.

I am Luxembourg-born scientific illustrator and artist living in Hanover, Germany. For a couple of decades I was a copywriter for Honeywell Bull, Nokia and Siemens. Then I slowly slipped into computer graphics. I specialized in illustrating molecules and fullerenes for a long time. In 1988 I received a recognition of the Prix Ars Electronica for my graphic "Funnel". In 2023 I started doing AI illustrations. I live together with my partner Elke Leger, my favorite photo subject, and a turtle named George.
