Long before the Celts and the Barbarians, a tribe of giants lived on Mont Barlot. On this hill, there was a huge forest in which little elves lived, fervent defenders of nature. The tribe of giants, whose only occupation was hunting and partying, paid little attention to nature, not hesitating to destroy everything in its path. When they saw that the giants were also trying to enter their celestial kingdom above the clouds, in a fit of anger, they turned the giants who were trying to climb the huge ladder into stones. The enormous rocks fell on top of the mountain, and made up what is now called the Pierres Jaumâtres. The name of this place comes from "Pierres aux Mâtres", the Mâtres being female divinities of Celtic origin dedicated to fertility and fecundity.
