I sometimes use photographs as raw material, a launch pad for digital explorations. When you do that as part of your practice you start to think about what can be a subject and how. Most of us spend time in a kitchen, every day we look at food, some stuff is waste, some is abandoned, some just residue we mostly think nothing of it. I started looking at this as a kind of entropy in the kitchen and so a project began recording the incidental. This is one of a series of works developed from kitchen food photos. I had some noodles stuck to the bottom of a wok, possibly a bit repulsive to look at. If you didn't know that was the source you probably wouldn't guess. Why I would stick teeth and eyes on that photo I don't really know, perhaps its a bit primal to make sense of things, the face of a great ape was apparent.
