ABOUT THE ARTWORK
One of a series of digital works based on mundane observed phenomena in the kitchen. I had cleaned a kitchen worktop with a dishcloth and noticed swirls. In processing the photograph content one shape reminded me of an island, the detergent seemed to relate to the concept of pollution. The island started to take on something of the idea of geopolitics and the patterning reminded me of satellite surveillance. The latter made me think of all the space junk we have created. The title reflects these meandering thoughts that in turn would frame pictorial decisions.

I was a painter to begin. I started doing computer art in the late 70s, programmed at first but then evolving into a couple of strands of practice. Today the painting and the computer work interact sometimes, because of digital media I also retrieve and revisit old work when it merits it.
