ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Cubism was a revolutionary art movement that emerged in France in the early 20th century. The most important founders were Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque, who were inspired by African art and the painter Paul Cézanne. They broke with traditional perspective and representation of objects and reduced them to geometric shapes such as cubes, cones and cylinders. They showed the objects from different angles at the same time, creating a new spatial atmosphere. Cubism influenced many other modern art styles, such as Orphism, Purism, and Futurism. Cubism is considered one of the most significant innovations in the art of the 20th century. However, I believe Cubism was invented by this girl when she was holding an early version of the Rubic's Cube in her hands.
