orcas Print

I was in hospital when I had this dream which rarely i have a nice dream. where it was night and the moon was huge against the horizon reflecting off of the ocean and the water was so clear and vast you could see quite a bit into the depths and these orcas surfaced and it felt like a huge weight had lifted and I was floating and this one orca came and placed its forehead against my palm and its skin was wet and rubbery and it huffed it was really surreal it was like I was living it, while I was in hospital I had to draw it down which was a bit messy with just pens and felt tips. After being discharged I went straight to work on this piece, I wanted it to be watercolour themed to portray that dreamy surreal feeling and elegance even though orcas are known for their aggression. and the girl alone on the boat being surrounded by all these big bold things and she should be scared but instead she's reaching out to try and embrace the orcas to empathise with them almost. its seeing the beauty in even the scary things.
