ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This piece was inspired by my love for the golden age illustrators. Taking my love of portraiture, ink, and the outdoors. I was able to combine them to create a small scene of two hunters. Dapperly dressed in their vintage attire, I wanted to capture their expression through very slightly caricaturized features. This warping of proportions can lead to some interesting results. I picture an illustration such as this to have been featured in an old outdoorsman magazine; Sports Afield or Field & Stream. Often times, these types of illustrations would be paired with a short story that readers could enjoy. They are a great reference point for similar works and a lot fun to look at each individual stroke of the pen...

I enjoy drawing and painting just about everything from landscapes to people. My strongest focus includes portraits and of people. I love to capture characters that are unique individuals, each with their own backstory. My inspiration comes from a range of artists of the Golden Era of Illustration, branching to the 1960s. My recent work pulls aspects from the vintage advertisements and the characters that inhabit them. I am captivated by the stylization and the world in which they live. I strive to improve my work to reach the quality and appeal that these artists have achieved through their careers. I have also spent a majority of my life in the outdoors, whether it be camping, hiking, or fishing. I combine my experiences and love of the past into my illustrations; seen through fishermen, outdoorsmen, and dapper gentlemen.
