About The Artwork

Mixed media (charcoal, pastel and coloured pencils) on paper The work was inspired by the current trends in our society where the indoctrination of children starts at an early age. Children are daily exposed to different channels (entertainment, speeches, censorship and the school system) and they succumb to promoting one ideology over another without building up logic. They are taught to be obedient and submissive, allowing main stream media to think for them.

Lavi Picu is a Romanian interdisciplinary artist currently living in Montreal, Canada. She is an emerging visual artist who uses painting and poetry as alternative forms of self expression as well as pain management therapy for Lyme disease. She is also the author of four soulful collections of poetry. Lavi challenges herself daily to capture bits of the beauty that surrounds her. She draws her inspiration from her travels, from everywhere, far and near, from daily activities, music, love, pain, her poetry as well as her personal experiences. She loves working and experimenting with layers of acrylic paint, creating an array of textures. Shes uses watercolor, pastel, oil colors, colored pencils, but she is more drawn to acrylics. Her paintings can be found in private collections from North America, Europe, Asia and Central America.
