A typical church in Spain from historical times. It is currently not in use due to the small population. However, an accidental meeting led to an exclusive visit inside. It may look humble from the outside, with its simple clay tile roofs but the interior was hiding quite the opposite. It was rich, full of history and strangely the scale of the interior seemed so much more grand and impressive. It was a hot summer evening, I was sitting on the stairs leading down the streets of Cervera and sketching yet another view when a curious man with a photo camera stopped by to ask what am I doing. He turned out to be a local man who was recoding historical items and buildings in his area. Talks about architecture lead to an invitation to visit this closed church. This kind of meetings while travelling are the ones that remind of the eternal possibilities out there. The original drawing is on a 220gsm smooth paper, drawn with a 0.05 and 0.1 black felt pen. These pens give very fine and delicate linework, creating an impression of lightness.
