Bohdan Rodyuk Chekan really had no choice. His destiny was art. His mother was a well-known actress, scriptwriter, and journalist. His father was a noted architect. The air in their household vibrated with creativity. As a child, he drew continuously, living and breathing the essence of art, and then—of course—proceeded to educate himself as he matured. He graduated with honors from the prestigious Mykhailo Boychuk Kyiv State Academy of Decorative-Applied Arts and Design. He then went on to earn a Master's degree in visual design at the renowned Salvador Dali Art Institute for Decorative Modelling and Design. But that wasn’t enough. Knowing that his art would require more than mere technical knowledge, Bohdan expanded his soul with studies at the H.S. Skovoroda Institute of Philosophy and at the Superior Institute of Religious Sciences of St. Thomas Aquinas in Kyiv, Ukraine. After all his education, Bohdan worked at the press service of the Ukrainian Minister of Culture and began to create his own unique art. As you will see on this webpage, it often contains fragments of Ukrainian and Polish history, traditional folk art, plus contemporary culture and pop art. Much of it combines his well-developed skills in traditional art forms with his enthusiasm for digital art, which he perceives as the future direction of art-making. "Art that enchants the soul, stopping the everyday, where even the ringing smartphone at an exhibition cannot distract you, is the inspiration of my artistic muse."
