ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This drawing is a tribute to Cagnaccio di San Pietro. He painted 'L'Alzana' in 1926 as a reminiscence of the Russian painter Ilya Repin's famous masterpiece 'Boatmen of the Volga' (1873). L’Alzana, referred to in the title of the painting, was a large rope used as mooring cable or for the tugboat trailer of the boats that were drawn along the channels. This painting was one of the most prominent artworks of Magic Realism movement.
