ABOUT THE ARTWORK
In April of 1970 I was very fortunate to be studying figure drawing at Chabot College in Hayward, Ca. with Leendert Kamelgarn as my professor. He was a marvelous open minded individual who allowed his students total freedom to create. He was able to acquire nude models for almost all of our classes. His intellectual love of freedom instilled in us lucky few the freedom to allow our hands to draw and create as we wished.

I work in Yosemite National Park as a tour guide. I have worked in Yosemite for over 30 years. My artwork is inextricably tied to my Yosemite Geography and my ecological message. I am a plein air painter, print maker, and photographer. I also write and illustrate my own books. I am the author of "A Brief Instruction in Christian Religion," (A translation of Faustus Socinus), "The Chronicles of the Field Mouse Timothy," (Corn,Tomato,Wheat, Cotton, Sweet Potatoes, Rice Paddy, Pond Mouse and Yosemite), "Nature Vision" (Poems), and I have illustrated the short stories of my late daughter Sandra Fontana "Cereal at Midnight." I love nature and the wilderness. I am a proponent of the global national parks movement.
