PROTEA FLOWERS Soft pastel, watercolor, paper (mixed media) One of a kind artwork Size: 49 x 38.7 cm (unframed) This artwork is sold unframed In the 19th century, proteas were grown exclusively at the courts of kings and nobility. But in the 21st century, these flowers became available to everyone. This marvelous flower is named for the ancient Greek sea deity Proteus. According to legend, he could change his appearance and had the gift of a predictor. Maybe this is why they called the flower since it makes it clear to us that it is not easy. I wanted to portray him. The magical blue background highlights the colorful buds. Bold strokes of pastel crayons convey an expressive character. Bright, juicy protea flowers are arranged in a vase. They are so beautiful and self-sufficient that I think they would not have liked it if they were to place any other flowers, because of their strangeness they would displace them.
