Charcoal = Carbonized wood bar That series "Desolada Look" is made with charcoal or charred wood, product of a fire, disaster etc. My first thought was to make spooky landscapes or as they say in German: unheimlich. Charcoal is very significant for the subject, it is white or black, very defined. For this reason I wanted to capture the desolation in landscapes or portraits, the Desolate Look. Desolation means: Feeling of sinking or emptiness caused by anguish, pain or great sorrows …… Also: ruined, empty, situation after a disaster or face full of pain, bitterness and sadness. We must accept Nature as it is. Nature gives and takes away. The pastel red color that I used subtly is life that continues, recovery, restoration or maybe God. For me the same as the dynamics of Nature. In our time of natural disasters we are in shock and say: we are destroying Nature, but I think it is very arrogant to say, we are not bigger than life or Nature. Nature is destroying US. It takes our lives or gives us the color red …… hope, renewal. Feeling of sinking or emptiness caused by anguish, pain or great sorrows …… Renovacion from the series "Mirada Desolada"
