Africa's scavenger and ruthless opportunist. We all need rest between the madness and mayhem. As quiet and subtle as he will ever be, I prefer charcoal when dealing with character and mood. Paul Vosloo grew up in the village of Gonubie, South Africa. While studying Graphic Design at NMMU he discovered a natural affinity for the medium of pencil and charcoal. Since graduating from NMMU, he has travelled and worked around the world as a graphic designer. He has exhibited at the Ann Bryant Art Gallery, Tamasa, Imbizo Gallery, Etchings Gallery, The Green Gallery and had a solo exhibition in Cape Town. With each drawing I try to capture a fleeting emotion or moment. Sometimes that means a moment between time, the next a moment of drama and madness. In nature, as in life there is beauty in stillness and the fight to survive. I love the raw beauty and dark emotion of black and white imagery created in charcoal or pencil. I feel that I am at the beginning of my artistic journey. As each drawing is finished I find a new sense of urgency to create another. Since moving to the UK I have found a renewed energy to create, inspired by the endless inspiration living just outside London.
